Today, I’m taking you inside the jewelry making process — from raw silver to finished treasure — and showing why artisan jewelry carries a soul that mass production simply can’t replicate.

It Starts with an Idea (and Often, a Sketch on a Scrap of Paper)

Every piece of handcrafted jewelry I create starts with inspiration: a leaf fallen just so, the curve of a river stone, a myth whispered through old stories.Sometimes it’s meticulously planned; other times it begins with a quick sketch — literally scribbled on the back of a receipt when inspiration strikes.

This is where imagination meets intention.Before a single tool is lifted, I already know the feeling I want the finished piece to carry — strength, elegance, protection, wildness.

Shaping the Raw Materials

Once the design is clear, the real work begins.

Depending on the piece, I might:

• Saw shapes by hand from sheets of sterling silver.

• Carve or sculpt designs in metal clay — a medium that fuses into solid silver during firing.

• Form, hammer, or texture silver wire into fluid shapes.

• Choose natural stones, setting them aside like secret treasures waiting for their perfect match.

This is where patience and precision matter.Every curve, every connection, every hammer blow becomes part of the story.

Handmade work doesn’t hide imperfections — and honestly, I don’t want it to. Those tiny signs of craftsmanship are proof of life.

The Alchemy of Fire

Fire is where the transformation truly begins.

In traditional silversmithing, soldering fuses the pieces of sterling silver jewelry together using different levels of solder. It’s a careful dance of heat and timing: too little, and nothing bonds; too much, and everything melts into an expensive puddle.

With metal clay designs, firing in the kiln changes everything.The clay binder burns away, leaving sterling silver — the moment when fragile forms survive fire and emerge stronger.

This phase demands trust: in the materials, in my skills, and sometimes in a little luck.

Refinement: Bringing Out the Beauty

After firing or soldering, the piece is far from finished.

It goes through a cycle of:

• Filing

• Sanding

• Polishing

• Adding patinas (to deepen texture and contrast)

• Carefully setting stones (requiring a steady hand and a lot of patience)

This is when the jewelry piece starts whispering back:"Yes, this is who I was meant to be."

Every surface, every detail is brought to life — whether it’s polished to a mirror shine or finished with a soft, organic matte texture, often inspired by the forms of nature inspired jewelry.
