Life is too short to wear boring jewelry!

Begin with an idea

I begin with an idea, but as I work, the picture takes over. Then there is the struggle between the idea I preconceived... and the picture that fights for its own life. Georg Baselitz

I came across this quote and I hit home not just in my art but also in life. How many times have I started a creation and as it was coming to completion it was not what I envisioned? It was not what I wanted? The art had a mind of it's own, and became it's own manifestation of my vision. Sounds odd doesn't it? But often I find it best for me to let the piece develop on it's own, let the art become. In having a preconceived ideal of the finished item I deny the experience, I don't get the chance to learn and watch my idea grow and change becoming something more that I have ever thought.
